
Dr Eric DEHARO, IRD representative in Laos, who will lead the project, is a pharmacologist who has worked with ethnic communities in Laos on promotion of biodiversity through its use in traditional medicine for neglected disease and has expertise in the social context of health behaviours. During his career, he has worked in Bolivia, French Guiana, Peru and Lao PDR where he set up laboratory of experimental pharmacology in national universities and he has gained in-depth knowledge of working in Southern health contexts.
As an expert for international entities (WHO, AUF, E.U.) he participated in many scientific committees to define scientific strategies in health programmes.
He published more than 130 articles in international journals. He has received recognition for his scientific work in the Global South, culminating in 2002 and 2013 with the awards of the Altran Foundation and the IRD Innovation-South prizes, respectively.

He actively collaborates with Mounoy Dev start-up (https://mounoydev.com/), which is the fruit of a long-term capacity building and strong partnership with IRD researchers.
